Yahoo Beijing Global R&D Center focuses on Yahoo’s global business and is committed to provide products and technologies in making the world’s daily habits inspiring and entertaining.

Vision

We have created a “Win-Win-Win” situation here at Yahoo Beijing Global R&D Center. A win for talent – when our engineers learn and grow together through hands-on project experience, through career guidance with mentors and managers, and through positive role models when collaborating with other world-class engineers across different regions. Strategy

Our strategy is simple yet powerful: “Core Products, Global Impacts.” We don’t spread ourselves too thin. Instead, we have picked and chosen those projects and technologies indispensable to Yahoo’s ultimate success. Our strategy is realized in four pillars: “Personalization", "Advertising,” “Mobile,” and “Cloud Computing.” We favor and optimize for those projects here at Yahoo Beijing Global R&D Center snapping to those pillars. Science-driven engineering is the underlying thread that connects the dots and ties the four pillars into one holistic whole.

Science-driven Engineering

Both science and engineering have had a deep root at the founding of Yahoo Beijing Global R&D Center. They have together formed the core of our PaaS (Platform as a Service) strategy that focuses on collecting, analyzing and acting upon a massive amount of data going through Yahoo’s infrastructure. Science is the secret sauce in creating uniquely personal and meaningful mobile and web experiences with rich user interactions, and relevant ads and contents seamlessly blended and efficiently streamed onto the user’s device. It also gives marketers compelling reasons to advertise on Yahoo properties through display and search advertising platforms. The heavy-lifting of the next-generation PaaS platform is presently being built right here in Beijing – from Personalization, to Targeting, to Sponsored Search, to Non-Guaranteed Display (NGD) Ads, and to Traffic Protection, all of which are science-led. Attracting and retaining top-notch researchers, applied scientists, engineers and product managers continue to be Yahoo Beijing Global R&D Center’s core mission and existential priority.
